UGA Student Receives ASM Undergraduate Research Fellowship The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) selected Maliha Ishaq as a 2013 recipient of the ASM Undergraduate Research Fellowship. The ASM fellowships are targeted for highly competitive students who plan to pursue graduate studies in microbiology. Each fellow receives a stipend to conduct full tme summer research at their institution, a two-year ASM student membership and funding for travel expenses to the ASM Capstone Institute and 114th ASM General Meeting in Boston, MA. UGA Microbiology Graduate Students Participate in ASM Kadner Institute Six UGA Microbiology graduate students participated in the 2013 ASM Kadner Institute for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scientists in Preparation for Careers in Microbiology, which was held July 27-31 in San Jose, California. The institute was developed in 2000 by the ASM Education Board Committee on Graduate and Postdoctoral Education. Participants in the institute have a chance to network, explore career options, and hone their skills in grant writing, scientific presentations, communication and ethics.
