Rotation Policy

Rotations

PhD Students are admitted through the ILS department and will follow the ILS rotation procedure.

GRSC 8000. Rotations – Three 6-week rotations. Students can request a rotation with ANY of our 200+ ILS-affiliated faculty members that are drawn from 14 departments / institutes. Students can expect to have 30+ hours of time per week for research-related activities.

Work schedules and expectations:

Rotation periods each cover roughly 30 workweek days, not including the UGA holidays during fall semester (Labor day and Thanksgiving Thurs/Fri).  Students should be aware that as UGA employees with assistantships, they have obligations that extend beyond the classroom schedule.  For example, rotations extend beyond the last final exam. See the departmental vacation policy.  In the event of illness or injury that results in absence from work, it is the student’s responsibility to contact their rotation host as soon as possible.
