Founded on December 5, 1776, at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, Phi Beta Kappa recognizes students who have made outstanding intellectual achievements in the arts and sciences at America’s leading colleges and universities.  In addition, the Society sponsors activities to advance studies in humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. UGA Microbiology students who were elected to Phi Beta Kappa this year were Robert Ashley (Kennesaw, GA), Miranda Brown (Midland, GA), James Cheng (Martinez, GA), Mina Ghobrial (Roswell, GA), Dabin Ji (Snellville, GA), Brandon Kirby (Bartow, GA), Arjun Parikh (McDonough, GA), Anisha Patel (Tyrone, GA), Ramon Reddick (Americus, GA) and Christopher Slade (Lawrenceville, GA).
