Image: Dr. Jennifer Walker was recognized with the Margaret Green Microbiology Teaching Award, awarded by the Southeastern Branch of the American Society for Microbiology. The Margaret Green Microbiology Teaching Award was established in 1986. It is presented to an individual who has rendered outstanding service in the teaching of microbiology, particularly at the undergraduate level, while at a Southeastern Branch institution. This year, at the ASM SEB meeting (Oct 31-Nov 2, 2025), Dr. Walker was presented with the award by ASM SEB president Dr. Nikki Shariat. Dr. Walker joined the University of Georgia just over two decades ago. She has helped transform the Microbiology undergraduate program as a member of the Undergraduate Affairs committee since 2016 and as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator since 2019. In addition, she serves as the faculty advisor to the UGA student chapter of ASM. We all applaud this well-deserved recognition for Dr. Walker!
