Other Important Information

Deadlines: Please complete your application by December 1 to ensure consideration for admission the following Fall. NOTE: Application for admission consists of both a Graduate School application and a Department of Microbiology application.

Qualifications:   All aspects of each application are considered. We are interested in students that are competitive academically, and have significant research experience. Because the application is holistically evaluated, we do not judge the likelihood of acceptability based on a short pre-application.

Campus visits: Top applicants will be invited for an interview/recruitment weekend in early February. During this visit, applicants will meet faculty, students, and staff in individual and group settings.

International Students:  As a University of Georgia (UGA) policy, international students whose native language is not English and who do not have a degree from a US institution must have a TOEFL speaking score of at least 22 to be admitted. Additional training in English may be required before International students can serve as Teaching Assistants.
